Conor McGregor’s fighting career is far from over following his loss in the high-stakes rematch against former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

‘The Notorious’ suffered first-ever knockout loss of his career. Speculations about a fighter’s retirement following a loss of this magnitude are not uncommon in the MMA community.

Frans Mlambo, who trains with the UFC superstar had released a video on twitter which was deleted within 5 minutes of its upload. In the video we could hear Mlambo talk about Conor’s future with the sport.

“I think Conor (McGregor) will fight one last time. You know… he is expecting his third child with fiancee Dee (Devlin)”

He further added,

“Looks like he wants a trilogy with either Nate (Diaz) or Dustin (Poirier). As far as I know, the UFC reached out to us for Poirier trilogy. Poirier is up for June/July.”

Conor will fight one last time. It can be either Nate Diaz or Dustin Poirier. Earlier Dana White said McGregor vs Poirier trilogy will take place ‘This Summer’.

From the statements made by Conor’s teammate, it seems that the former double champ would retire to take care of the newborn as the couple is expecting their third child.

McGregor’s first retirement from MMA took place in April 2016, the second in March 2019, and the third in June 2020. ‘The Notorious’ had announced retirement thrice in the past, but had the competitiveness to make a comeback.
